Poker News Daily: You recently signed on with Victory Poker. How did you come to be part of the team?
Andrew Robl: I was approached by my good friend Dan Fleyshman, who used to be the CEO and President of a company called Who’s Your Daddy Energy Drink. He started the company from scratch when he was 17 years-old. He built it to a company worth $100 million with 180 employees. In poker, these sites have become so big now that he wanted to have a room with a personal feel and a personal touch.
Online poker is mostly played by 18 to 25 year-old kids. He saw that a lot of us didn’t have sponsorship deals and said, “You know, I want to put together a site that appeals to that age group.” So, some of us sat down and he sold us all on the idea.
PND: It seems like the roster of sponsored players were all friends before joining forces for Victory Poker. Is that the case?
Andrew Robl: Yes, for sure. There was a big group of us. Brian “tsarrast” Rast, Keith Gipson, Antonio Esfandiari, Danny, and I all lived in the same building and were friends before Victory Poker started.
PND: As part of the Victory Poker launch, several of you guys played in a cash game that was filmed at the Hard Rock. Can you fill us in on how the session went for you?
Andrew Robl: I was really sick when we filmed it, so I ended up losing $35,000. There was a lot of action in the cash games and there were a lot of $100,000-plus pots.
PND: What stakes were you playing?
Andrew Robl: We were playing $100/$100 with a $200 ante. The game was full of gamblers, so it was not a tight game by any means.
PND: Do you guys plan to put together more televised cash games in the future?
Andrew Robl: We’re primarily high-stakes cash game players. That’s how most Victory Pros make their living. We’re planning on doing a lot of stuff like that in the future.
PND: Will Victory Poker be offering high-stakes cash game tables on the site?
Andrew Robl: Right now, most of the action is on $.01/$.02 and $2/$4 No Limit Hold’em, but I’m there every day sitting at $50/$100 and $100/$200. Once someone deposits and is ready to play me, I’ll be ready. Hopefully, we’ll get a lot of action at the higher limits as time goes on and the site starts getting more traffic.
PND: Someone tipped us off that the Victory Poker guys are going to have a demolition derby out in the desert. Have you thought about what kind of car you’re going to get?
Andrew Robl: I haven’t looked into it yet. Dan “Blitz” Bilzerian just told me about it recently. He is kind of the mastermind behind all of these projects. There’s going to be a $1,500 limit per person, so I’m going to start searching Craig’s List really soon. I have a few tricks up my sleeve, but I don’t want to give anything away to the other guys.
