A software update for popular online poker room Absolute Poker recently caused confusion among customers when the security program AVG identified a component of it as a Trojan Horse. Poker News Daily sought explanation from Absolute Poker as well as feedback from a customer who experienced the abnormality.

The Free Poker Experience, which is the parent company of the Free Poker Network, has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York. The organization, which operates free Texas Hold’em tournaments in bars and other establishments around the country, is looking to break into the New York market.

Peter Eastgate recently became the youngest Main Event winner in World Series of Poker history at age 22, breaking Phil Hellmuth’s record by two years. He was the fourth Danish poker pro to win a bracelet during the 2008 World Series and pocketed the second largest WSOP payout ever.

The PokerStars-sponsored European Poker Tour (EPT) just wrapped up its event in Warsaw last night. There were 217 entrants into the 21,000 PLN (approximately €5,200) event and when the smoke cleared, João Barbosa received the best birthday present imaginable, emerging as the champion and pocketing a €367,140 first place prize.

On Tuesday, GigaMedia Limited, which is the exclusive provider of software to online poker room Everest Poker, reported a 24% growth in consolidated net income to $12 million during the third quarter of 2008. The figure was up from $9.7 million during the same period in 2007.

Last week, poker personalities Dan and Beth Shak hosted the All In for Kids charity poker tournament benefiting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In attendance were three of the most recognizable names in poker: Phil Ivey, Annie Duke, and Phil Hellmuth.

In a move that has rocked the poker world, professional poker player Clonie Gowen filed a multi-faceted lawsuit on November 14th against her alleged former employer, Full Tilt Poker, and the individuals and corporations that are part of the Full Tilt operation.

In an e-mail sent to customers on Monday, the World Poker Tour’s Casino and Poker Room referred its players to InterPoker. The WPT’s poker room is scheduled to cease operations this Thursday, November 20th.

In a move announced on Tuesday, the Peak Group Malta, the parent company of Sun Poker, announced that its online poker site, along with Omni Casino and CSCasino.com, will be moving to Playtech’s iPoker Network effective in the middle of December.

The tenth Full Tilt Online Poker Series wrapped up over the weekend and emerging victorious from the $5,200 buy-in Two-Day tournament was Amit “amak316” Makhija, who took home a healthy $550,000 payday.
