The first match of the highly anticipated Durrrr Challenge has been running since February 2009 and there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight. Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius still have 11,026 hands left in the challenge and the two haven’t played a session since April 30th. But, that isn’t stopping Dwan from lining up his next opponents.

Dwan confirmed in an April interview with Bluff Magazine that he intends to play Brian Townsend once the seemingly endless challenge against Antonius is completed. Said Dwan, “[Two or three months] is the timeline to get it done, and with Brian, it’s possible to get it done even faster. With Brian, there will be days when we’ll probably play 5,000 hands.” However, he later recanted his statements in a TwoPlusTwo post.

On Monday, Dwan and several of the world’s top players met up at the $100/$200 tables on Full Tilt Poker and, after Dwan took a loss of more than $100,000, he chatted with No Limit Hold ’em specialist and CardRunners pro “jungleman12” about the possibility of a future Durrrr Challenge match:

durrrr: y dont u take challenge

Jungleman12’s identity is not known, but he or she has been wreaking havoc at the high stakes cash game tables on Full Tilt Poker since late last year. According to highstakesdb.com, Dwan and jungleman12 join Phil Ivey as the three biggest winners on the world’s second largest site in 2010, each topping $2,000,000 in winnings. And Dwan’s comments in the chat box lead us to believe that he’s had a tough time with jungleman12 himself, making for what could be an exciting future match for the Durrrr Challenge.

Should the match take place, the same guidelines will be in effect: Dwan and anyone who accepts the challenge will play 50,000 hands of four-table heads-up No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha with minimum blinds of $200/$400. If at the end of 50,000 hands Dwan is up by at least $1, the opposition must pay him $500,000. If the opposition is up, Dwan must pay $1.5 million, as he is laying 3-1 odds to anyone who is willing to play.

Currently, Dwan leads Antonius by $1,844,430 after 38,974 hands. The last match was played on April 30th, well before the World Series of Poker got underway, and Dwan beat Antonius for $335,802 in just 83 hands. Antonius has the option of quitting the match early and conceding victory, but given his competitive nature, that doesn’t seem likely at this point in time.
