The final table of the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) Foxwoods World Poker Finals is set. After an abbreviated play down day on Monday, Tom “Kingsofcards” Marchese leads the six-handed finale. Marchese will come armed with plenty of televised final table experience after having won the PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) Venetian Main Event earlier this year.

DoylesRoom front man Hoyt Corkins was the first casualty of Monday’s action. Play started with 12 runners and Corkins moved all-in before the flop with A-6 suited to spades. Mohsin “chicagocards1” Charania called from the big blind with A-10, but watched as Corkins flopped a six. However, running tens gave Charania the win with trips and sent the former WPT champion out in 12th place for $46,000.

PokerStars pro and World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Jason Mercier was eliminated in 11th place. Mercier was all-in for his tournament life with pocket nines, but ran into Keven “Stamdogg” Stammen’s pocket tens. The flop of 5-6-7, all clubs, gave Mercier a gutshot straight draw to an eight. Another club on the turn brought the possibility of a chopped pot, as neither player held a card of the suit, but a red jack on the river relegated Mercier to the rail in 11th place for the same $46,000.

After Ben Klier ran A-9 into A-J on his final hand to depart in 10th place, Christopher Bonita hit the rail in ninth. After a flop of A-9-2, Bonita was all-in with A-Q for top pair, but Marchese had him trumped with A-K for top pair with a better kicker. A running 6-J sealed Bonita’s $61,000 payday. During pre-flop action, Bonita fired out a bet of 66,000 after Marchese had already raised to 55,000. The dealer returned 6,000 to Bonita, leading some players at the table to conclude that Bonita meant to open, but inadvertently just called.

Besnik Ziba was bumped in eighth place and banked $72,000. Ziba rode A-5 of diamonds for his tournament life and was up against Marchese’s K-9 of diamonds. The Q-8-4-6 board left Ziba in prime shape for a double up on the river, but Marchese spiked a nine to claim the pot. Ziba took home $75,000 for his five-day run at Foxwoods.

The final elimination of the day on Monday at the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals went to Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, a sponsored pro of Titan Poker. Mizzi staked his tournament life before the flop with A-Q of clubs and was up against the wired pair of tens belonging to Charania. Mizzi flopped an ace to take a commanding lead in the hand; the card left Charania drawing to two outs on the turn and river. Sure enough, a red ten hit on the river and Mizzi was ousted in brutal fashion on the final table bubble. However, he pulled down $88,000, which may help to soothe his pain.

Here is how the final six players stack up in the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals:

1. Tom “Kingsofcards” Marchese – 3,022,000  (125 big blinds)
