It is not exactly play money, but for people who like to play poker for free, these next two weeks should be fun at Full Tilt Poker. Starting today, Full Tilt is hosting Freeroll Mayhem, a tournament series in which players do not have to buy-in to play (if that was not completely obviously by the promotion’s name).
It is not as simple as just registering for a freeroll and moving on, but it is close. There are a few levels of freerolls in this series, starting with the daily $5K Freeroll Mayhem Flips. As might be apparent by the word “daily,” these take place once a day from Monday, May 4th, through Sunday, May 17th, and are scheduled to begin at 7:00pm ET. They are Flip Tournaments, which means they are 100 percent luck-based, with absolutely no skill involved. In Flip Tournaments, all players are automatically put all-in pre-flop on every hand. The process is repeated until one person has all the chips. To qualify for the Freeroll Mayhem Flips, players only need to earn a fraction of a Full Tilt Point from Sunday, May 3rd, through Saturday, May 16th, at which point they will earn an entry into the following day’s tournament. Each Freeroll Mayhem Flip has a $5,000 prize pool.
The next level consists of the $10K Freeroll Mayhem tournaments. These are regular, good, old No-Limit Hold’em tourneys with a standard structure and $10,000 prize pool. There are two of them – one on Sunday May 10th at 1:30pm ET and one on Sunday, May 17th at 1:30pm. Anyone who qualifies for at least two of the $5K Freeroll Mayhem Flips in a week will earn a ticket into the upcoming $10K Freeroll Mayhem event.
The third and final tier is the $25K Freeroll Mayhem, which takes place on both Sunday, May 10th and Sunday May 17th at 3:30pm ET. These, again, are simple No-Limit Hold’em freerolls with $25,000 prize pools. The catch on qualifying to either of these is that while no Full Tilt Points are required, a deposit is. Those who deposit $10 or more during a week will receive an entry into the subsequent freeroll. The more the player deposits, the bigger that player’s starting chip stack will be. Players who deposit from $10 to $24.99 will start with 1,500 chips, those who deposit between $25 and $49.99 will start with 3,000 chips, and those that deposit $50 or more will start with 6,000 chips. Now, it is still technically free because that money doesn’t have to be wagered, but at the same time, the money cannot be immediately withdrawn, either. Anyone who cashes out during the week will not eligible for the freeroll that follows.
As is often the case with Full Tilt Poker promotions, players must opt-in to the promo to be eligible for the freeroll entries. To do so, players should open up the Cashier and navigate to “My Promotions.”
