The iPoker Network is bringing back its tournament series for a fourth time, promising a total of $1.2 million in guaranteed prize pools. The not-quite-originally named iPoker Online Poker Series (iPOPS) will run from April 21st through May 5th and will feature 17 events as well as satellites.
The format for iPOPS IV is different this year: it has been split into two sets of tournaments. Similar to PokerStars’ upcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), the “Side Events” will mirror the “Major Events” but will have lower buy-ins. The lone exception is the final Major Event, the $200 + $15 Main Event with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool, which has no Side Event counterpart. Rather than running concurrently with the Major Events, the Side Events will be held during the first week of iPOPS IV, followed by the Major Events.
Every player that makes the final table in a “Side Event” will receive a free entry into the Main Event.
In the days leading up to the Main Event, the iPoker Network will hold special Mega Satellites that will offer seats into the May 5th Main Event plus select other Major Events. The first just ran on Sunday, while the next three will be held on each of the next three Sundays. After that, there will be one per day on April 26th through April 28th, as well as one on May 2nd and one on May 4th. Buy-ins range from $25 + $2.50 to $80 + $8 and anywhere from 20 to 100 seats in the corresponding events will be guaranteed, depending on the satellite. There are also lower buy-in feeder satellites into the Mega Satellites.
Players who participate in the satellites will earn leaderboard points based on the tournament buy-in. Points are doubled for those who win seats into the next tournament.
