Starting on August 21st, PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site, is putting up more than $500,000 in seats to its annual World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The so-called WCOOP Extreme Satellites will run all the way through August 29th, with three opportunities to win your way in on the line daily.

These aren’t pricey satellites, either. In fact, the starting price tag is $5.50, with the most expensive WCOOP Extreme Satellite carrying a $260 buy-in. Qualifiers run at 14:00 ET, 17:00 ET, and 20:00 ET daily, ensuring that there will be a time that fits your schedule no matter where you live. PokerStars happily accepts players from the United States and around the world.

The 2010 PokerStars WCOOP gets underway on September 5th with three tournaments boasting a combined $5.5 million in prize money. The total purse for this year’s slate is $50 million, the largest amount of money that PokerStars has ever guaranteed in a single series. The Main Event is a life-changing $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Two-Day affair that comes with a $10 million guaranteed prize pool.

To hunt down the WCOOP Extreme Satellites in the PokerStars client, click on “Events,” “WCOOP,” “All,” and then type in “WCOOP Extreme” in the filter. Your search results will return the following 30 events, all of which pay out non-transferable tournament tickets that can only be redeemed in WCOOP events. The Extreme Satellites provide an excellent opportunity to enter high-stakes WCOOP tournaments on the cheap:
