Known online as ‘Whooookidd’ on PokerStars and ‘Bussa Buss’ on Full Tilt Poker and UB.com, David Baker is an extremely talented poker player. Born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Baker picked up poker while attending Michigan State College. He made the typical $50 online deposit but, as most novice players do, he lost it and had to go back to the drawing board. He would later invest in a membership to an online poker training site, which he says was a vital part of his development as a player.

Baker’s career took flight in early 2008 when he took down PokerStars’ $1K Super Tuesday for $74K. He followed that up three weeks later by winning the $100 rebuy for $40K and nabbing second in the Sunday Warm-Up for $54K, both on PokerStars. In October of the same year, he won PokerStars’ Sunday 500 for $91.5K, which at the time was the biggest score of his career. A few months later, however, he topped that cash by winning PokerStars’ $5200 Spring Championship of Online Poker Pot Limit Omaha event for $215K. ‘Bakes’ also has an impressive track record on Full Tilt Poker, where he has a fifth in the $2000 2-Day FTOPS #25 for $125K and a second in $100 Event #26 for $59K.

On the live tournament circuit, Baker has a slew of good cashes, including a second place finish at the 2008 World Poker Tour $5000 Five Star Classic for $230.5K. More recently, he made the final table of the 2010 World Series of Poker $50K Player’s Championship, where he finished sixth for $272K. At just 23 years of age, David Baker has already achieved a a great deal of success for such a young player and he figures to be a force at the tables for years to come.

Baker is romantically involved with Brazilian poker player Maridu Mayrinck, who is a Poker Stars pro.
