April 15th – Daily Deal

On the Daily Deal, we will celebrate a Massachusetts bill that does NOT criminalize online poker, look at the future of Carbon Poker after joining the Merge Network, and discover World Team Poker’s latest addition to the Lebanese team.

Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to the Daily Deal by Poker News Daily, brought to you by PokerSource.com.

A bill introduced by Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo authorizing the construction of two casinos no longer criminalizes Internet gambling and online poker. An amendment passed on Tuesday strikes out the following text from the bill: “Any person who knowingly transmits or receives a wager of any type by any telecommunication device… shall be punished.” This means online poker players will no longer face a penalty of two years behind bars and a twenty-five thousand dollar fine if the bill were approved.

Today, the USA-friendly Merge Network will officially welcome members of Players Only and Sportsbook.com. Carbon Poker Marketing Director Ian Williams told Poker News Daily he expects that the move may help Carbon Poker grow by as much as twenty percent. The Merge Network is celebrating the new additions with a rakeback boost to thirty-five percent and a massive hundred thousand dollar freeroll on May thirtieth.

When we return, we will find out who is the beautiful and talented new addition to Team Lebanon for World Team Poker.

We have it on good authority that Hollywood actress and poker player Shannon Elizabeth is now a member of World Team Poker’s Team Lebanon. She is eligible because her parents stem from the Middle Eastern country. Besides her Hollywood performances, Elizabeth has cashed in four World Series of Poker events over the past four years in games such as Stud and Omaha High-Low.
