Young online pro John Dolan is not afraid of putting his money where his mouth is, and he has been rewarded for his courage with remarkable success. Dolan took sixth in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and walked away with $1,772,959.

Dolan is a resident of Fort Myers, Florida, and he ponied up $10,000 to buy into the 2010 WSOP Main Event. He proceeded to make such a deep run in poker’s most prestigious event that, at the time of writing, he stands to win a minimum of $255,000, which will more than double his current lifetime live tournament winnings of $216,000.

Dolan entered the 2010 WSOP November Nine with the second largest chip stack at 46.25 million. Dolan ended the final day of play in July in the Main Event with relentless aggression, perhaps serving as an omen for his strategy in November. His targets late in the play down day included John “$JMONEY$” Racener and Joseph “subiime” Cheong, two top-tier online poker players.

Dolan took out Duy Le down the stretch to pad his chip stack. In a short stack versus short stack confrontation, Dolan open-shoved from the small blind with K-6 of diamonds and Le made the call for his tournament life way ahead with A-Q. However, Dolan found a king on the flop and the board bricked out for Le, who exited in 13th place for $500,000. Dolan had cracked Le’s aces with pocket fives just a few hands prior.

2009 was a very big year for the Florida pro, whose Pocket Fives scouting report has this flattering note: “In February ’09, John Dolan of Florida won the Full Tilt Poker $1k Monday for $94,500. This victory came only one day after he placed 3rd in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for over $13k. He also has a win in the Stars $100 rebuy from July ’08 for $ 40,400.”

Dolan ended 2009 with a big win at the Winter Bayou Poker Challenge, where he came on top of the field to win a first prize of nearly $32,000.

John Dolan made a splash in the 2010 World Series of Poker, starting with a very nice 32nd place finish in Event #30, a $1,500 buy in No Limit Poker event which netted him $13,541. He followed this with a final table performance at Event #36, an incentive tourney with a $1,000 buy in which attracted a massive field of 3,102 players. Dolan made an impressive 6th place finish, which earned him $82,804. It remains to be seen if he will make an even greater splash by moving on to day 8 or even more, by making it into the November Nine. And who knows, maybe the biggest, shiniest gold bracelet of 2010 will go to the Sunny State.
