Suspect concealed himself well
Las Vegas police are searching for a man who robbed the Rampart Casino in Summerlin and have reached out to the general public for help.
Local media originally reported the news of a possible armed robbery at an unnamed casino on Rampart Boulevard Thursday night, but other than that, no details were known. Later, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) provided more information, still not naming the casino (and they still have not), but based on the location, it is clearly Rampart Casino.
According to a police press release, a man entered the casino through the parking garage. He was dressed in a blue and yellow security jacket, a “ballistic helmet,” a black facemask, and blue sunglasses. He approached the cashier’s cage with an AR-style rifle, demanded money, and left the same way he came in after receiving the cash.
The LVMPD said that the call of the armed robbery came in at 10:29pm Thursday, November 13 and that officers arrived quickly and secured the area.
Hoping video can help
Because the perpetrator has not been caught, nor has the person even been identified, the police have posted video footage of the incident in the hopes that someone knows who the person is.
The 11-second video, shared to YouTube, shows the man calmly approach the Rampart Casino’s cage, clad in exactly what was described in the press release: helmet, sunglasses, mask, and the security jacket. He was also wearing gloves.
Though there is no audio, it is easy to guess that he demanded money from the cashier, who appears calm. In an interesting and relieving moment, a casino security officer confronts the man, pointing at him from just a couple of feet away. The suspect backs up a step and brandishes the rifle from underneath his jacket. The security guard immediately raises both of his hands to about head level, turns around, and walks away so as not to enflame the already tense situation.
The suspect immediately turns his attention back to the cashier, at which point the video ends. Fortunately, it does not appear that anyone was harmed in the course of the robbery.
The LVMPD requests that anyone who may have any information about the suspect or the incident call 702-828-3591, or email Robbery *at* lvmpd.com. Those who have a tip but wish to remain anonymous can call 702-385-5555 or file a report at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
