Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to the Daily Deal by Poker News Daily.

Yesterday the House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing to discuss internet gambling. Our own Dan Cypra was watching and joins us now on The Daily Deal. Dan, welcome to our show and could you give our viewers a rundown of what happened.

[Dan Cypra’s Report from the Committee Hearing]

Well Dan thanks for joining us on the Daily Deal. (Thank you Sean) . World Series of Poker Circuit events have been a great way for players to warm up for the series in Vegas in their own backyards. In the six year history of the circuit events, only one woman has won two events – Daphne “Tweety” Turner. And for bonus points, she did so by winning a Mixed Game tournament, which not only combines different games, but also different limits. Turner recently defeated Allen “Chainsaw” Kessler for her latest win, a gold WSOPC ring, and a new record for female poker players. Annie Duke, Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, and now Daphne Turner – maybe this really is the year of the woman in poker!

On Saturday, July third, the annual World Series of Poker Ante Up for Africa charity tournament will kick off at the Rio. Actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are attending, along with “Everybody Loves Raymond” co-stars Ray Romano and Brad Garrett. The man behind The Simpson’s Chief Wiggum and Comic Book Guy, Hank Azaria, will also be on-hand. If you’re a basketball fan, look for Tracy McGrady, who’ll be really easy to spot at six foot eight. The buy-in for the tournament, which benefits victims of the crisis in Darfur, is $5,000.
