SANDMAN201, TCB21 Chop UBOC $215 Sniper NLHE Deep Stack Event

A field of 568 players turned out for Event #20 of the ongoing UB.com Online Championship (UBOC) on Tuesday night, a $215 Sniper No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack contest. In the end, a two-way chop between SANDMAN201 and TCB21 occurred, with the finalists walking away with $22,000 and $18,000, respectively.

The top 54 players finished in the money and a minimum payout of $357 was up for grabs. Interestingly enough, UB.com pro Brandon Cantu was the player who popped the money bubble and bowed out in 55th place.

The chop gave $20,000 to SANDMAN201 and $18,000 to TCB21. A total of $2,000 was left on the table along with a stylish watch given to the winner of every UBOC event. In the end, SANDMAN201’s Big Slick outlasted TCB21’s Q-J when the board ran out 8-10-K-2-5. Amazingly, SANDMAN201 busted the last five players at the final table and was a one-man wrecking crew down the stretch.

SANDMAN201 hails from Canada and took down the Full Tilt Poker $30,000 Guaranteed last July for $7,200. TCB21 calls the great state of Iowa home and has over $500,000 in earnings from tournaments tracked by PocketFives.com to his credit. His largest cash came in December 2008, when he won the Absolute Poker $100,000 Deep Stack to the tune of $25,000.

Third place in last night’s $215 Sniper No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack event went to DoylesRoom Brunson 10 member Alex “AJKHOOSIER1” Kamberis. The online poker pro entered the final table as the chip leader, but could not go wire-to-wire. Kamberis went out after running A-7 of hearts into SANDMAN201’s A-10. Both players hit an ace on the river, but SANDMAN201’s kicker played and Kamberis was ousted in third place for $10,000.

We could write a book about Kamberis’ achievements in the online poker world, which ultimately earned him a spot in the prestigious Brunson 10. He’s a three-time Triple Crown winner on PocketFives.com, an award that requires a player to take down three $10,000 prize pool tournaments across three sites tracked for the Poker Rankings in a seven-day period. If you think that task sounds difficult, you are right. Kamberis also holds a PocketFives.com Monthly PLB title.

In September 2008, Kamberis made waves by final tabling the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event for over three-quarters of a million dollars following a five-way deal. Two months prior, he had final tabled the Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed for $132,000. He has taken down a variety of tournaments including the Absolute Poker $150,000 Guaranteed, PokerStars Super Tuesday, and the PokerStars $100 and $200 Rebuys.

Here is how the final nine players cashed out in last night’s UBOC Event #20:

1. SANDMAN201 – $21,992.80
