Schedule for 2024 World Series of Poker Released

It may have taken a bit longer than previously, but it was well worth the wait. This morning, Caesars Entertainment and WSOP officials released the full schedule for the upcoming 2024 World Series of Poker. Now, poker players from around the world can start to make their plans for the festivities this summer, which will once again be held at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe.

Action Starts May 28

The 2024 WSOP will consist of 99 tournaments that start on May 28 and conclude on July 17. Every day of that period will consist of at least one WSOP event and often more, as tournaments play through their multi-day process. The first day of the 2024 WSOP demonstrates how this will work for the entirety of the Series.

On May 28 (and in a slight change of tradition), Event #1 will NOT be the Casino Employees Event. The honor of opening the 2024 WSOP will go to a new tournament, a $5000 Champions Reunion No Limit Hold’em freezeout tournament. This eight-handed tournament will feature a special bounty on the participating former World Champions – a $10,000 seat to the 2024 WSOP Championship Event.

At 2 PM on May 28, the Casino Employees Event will take the stage, featuring the same $500 buy-in it has always offered. There will be one (1) re-entry offered to the participants in the tournament, who must be employed with a casino to gain entry to the tournament. This two-day tournament will wrap around to the next day.

On May 29, two more tournaments will start their play. At 10 AM, the $500 WSOP Kickoff will start its action with NO re-entry option. That afternoon at 2 PM, the Omaholics in the audience will get their first chance to dip their toes into the WSOP pool with an eight-handed $1500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better event.

Weekends Are for BIG Tournaments

The first weekend of the 2024 WSOP will kick off a slate of monster events that will run throughout the Series. That first weekend will see the $1000 Mystery Millions offered, with four Day Ones to build a field. The $25,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold’em Championship will be offered on May 30, while the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better Championship kicks off on Saturday (June 1).

The feature of saving the “big” tournaments for the weekends is a pattern. All the $10,000 Championship events in the multitude of disciplines offered will be on the weekends, as will the specialty guaranteed events. One of those guaranteed events to keep an eye on will be the Gladiators of Poker No Limit Hold’em event.

The Gladiators of Poker No Limit Hold’em event will be a $300 buy-in tournament that features four Day Ones for its competitors. Players will be allowed up to two (2) re-entries per flight, meaning that an unfortunate player could fire up to twelve bullets. The prize is worth it, however…there is a $3 million guaranteed prize pool with this tournament and players will be firing wildly at this one.

Two “High Roller” events will be held, a $25,000 version (June 9) and a $50,000 (June 14) buy-in tournament. This year, there will also be a massive buy-in “High Roller” tournament – $250,000 is the buy-in for that one (June 21). The $50,000 Poker Players Championship will be contested starting on June 23 and, of course, the $10,000 WSOP Championship Event will commence on July 3.

Of course, the 2024 WSOP will have a lot to contend with in comparison to 2023. Last year’s tournament broke records across the board, with the Championship Event cracking the 10K player mark before settling in at 10,043. Daniel Weinman is the reigning World Champion, picking up the monster WSOP Championship Event bracelet and the $12.1 million first place check.
