Poker News

I don’t know about all of you poker players in countries that are not the United States (‘MURICA!), but these next couple weeks are going to be slowwwww. Yes, we have the fun of Christmas, the end of Hanukkah, and New Year’s Eve/Day, but in between businesses don’t want to do much of any work, the weather is often crappy, and half of us just sit around the house waiting to see what horrible, seventh-tier college bowl game is on television. If you all get similarly bored, never fear, because Full Tilt Poker is running its $100K Scramble promotion until the end of 2014. Cash, prizes, and more! Actually, only cash.

The $100K Scramble is a series of freerolls held for ten days starting yesterday (sorry) and running through December 31st. Each day features $10,000 worth of freeroll prize pools.

There are five $1,000 Scramble Freerolls every day. Now, they are not as simple to enter as just clicking “register,” but it is pretty close. There is a qualification requirement, but that requirement is only to have earned one Full Tilt Point during the six days leading up to the freeroll (the day of the freeroll counts, too). Earn one point, then you can register.

Full Tilt Points are earned through real money play. In cash games, ten points are earned by the table for every dollar raked from the pot. Those points are then distributed to each player based on their proportional contribution to the rake. To give a simple example, say one dollar was raked to create ten Full Tilt Points and two players each contributed the same amount to the pot. Their contributions were 50 percent, so each would receive five of the Full Tilt Points. Anyone who was dealt cards but did not put any money into the middle would not receive points.

In tournaments, each dollar in fees awards ten Full Tilt Points. Jackpot Sit & Go’s work a little differently: players receive “one Full Tilt Point for every $2 Jackpot Sit & Go buy-in at the $1, $2, $5 and $10 buy-in levels.” Honestly, I’m not even sure what the hell that means. I guess if you play two $1 buy-in Jackpot games you get one point and if you play one $10 Jackpot game you get five? At the $50 buy-in level, Full Tilt says, players get 20 points.

Back to the freerolls. There are also two $2,500 Scramble Freerolls each day of the promotion, though these require a special entry ticket. Tickets can be earned by either depositing $30 or more before December 31st (five tickets) or by playing a real money Sit-and-Go tournament on Full Tilt’s mobile app (five tickets). So, really, those freerolls aren’t exactly freerolls, but close enough.

Of course, since this is Full Tilt, players have to opt-in to the promotion for some reason. Go to the Cashier and hit the My Promotions button. Yeah, I know, Full Tilt should just have the promotion automatically active for everyone.
