Born in Kent, United Kingdom in 1984, Liv Boeree studied astrophysics at The University of Manchester before eventually moving to London. There, she was introduced to poker after being selected to appear on a T.V. show called Ultimatepoker.com Showdown. Throughout the show she received coaching from poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke and, from then on, she was hooked.

After studying the game intensely, Liv broke through at the 2008 Ladbrokes Poker European Ladies Championship, taking down the event for $42K. In 2009, she cashed for $40K in the World Poker Tour Five Star World Poker Classic $25K event, which at the time was her biggest score. Later that year, she went on to pick up her first two World Series of Poker cashes, making the money in $1K and $1.5K No Limit Hold’em events. Following her run of success, Liv was signed by UB.com to be one of their sponsored pros.

In 2010, Boeree won the €5,000 European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event for $1.7 million. In addition to the massive first place prize, Liv became only the third woman to win an EPT championship. The final table included players like Sweden’s Jakob Carlsson, who lost the heads-up battle, and Toni Pettersson, who finished third. Overcome with emotion, Liv had this to say about her win: “I don’t want to cry because that’s not professional, but I can’t believe that I’ve won this. This is incredible. Everyone today played so good. Jakob was the one person I didn’t want to get heads-up against, he’s such a good player. But I ran well and I played good.”

Combined with her skill on the tables, Boeree’s good looks have garnered her international media attention in publications such as Loaded Magazine, Maxim, Sport Magazine UK, GuitarWorld, Card Player, and Bluff. Recently, she developed a passion for T.V. presenting and has worked on various productions, including The Metal Hammer Golden Gods, The European Poker Challenge II, and the EPT.

When she’s not playing live tournaments or online at UB.com, Liv Boeree, who is a huge metal fan, will most likely be found shredding on her guitar.
