Straight ahead on The Daily Deal, we’ll talk about the fallout from the most recent CEREUS Network controversy, share details about the new PokerStars Big Game TV show and find out who posted big profits in the poker industry for Q1.

Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to The Daily Deal, brought to you by PokerSource.com, where players have won over ten million dollars in free poker gifts.

As we reported earlier this week, there is once again controversy surrounding the CEREUS Network. PokerTableRatings.com uncovered an encryption flaw that could expose hole cards if players are on an unsecured wireless network. The flaw was due to CEREUS using a custom XOR-based encryption system as opposed to the standard SSL. Traffic on the site, potentially because of the security issue, has dropped nine percent in the first ten days of May month over month. Worldwide, the CEREUS Network fell from the sixth largest network to ninth, according to PokerScout.com. Currently, the network is creating an OpenSSL encryption system.

A new poker television show will be making its debut in the United States in June on Fox . “The Poker Stars Big Game” will air Monday through Friday, and feature the top poker players in the world battling on the felt with a PokerStars qualifier in a high-stakes cash game. The buy-in for the “Big Game” will be a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars. Confirmed participants include Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Doyle Brunson. The show mirror’s GSN’s “High Stakes Poker,” which just aired its Season Six finale.

Coming up, a Titanic quarter for Playtech.

Playtech Limited, which owns and operates the iPoker Network, home of Titan Poker and Winner.com, released its financial results for the first quarter of 2010. The company’s revenues were up 29% year over year. The company’s poker action decreased slightly year over year, with a four percent drop in revenues. In a comparison with the last quarter of 2009, however, Playtech showed two percent growth in online poker. The iPoker Network is currently the fourth largest in the world.
