The jackpot for PokerStars’ $1 Million Spin & Go promotion is only supposed to hit three out of every ten million times. Methinks it is ahead of schedule. A couple weeks ago, a trio of lucky players became the first to bink the $1.2 million spin with Russian “sss66666” winning the three-handed single table tournament and the top prize of a million dollars. Alright, got that out of the way, no chance it will happen one more time before the promotion concludes at month’s end.
Correct! It will not happen one more time. It has happened two more times.
As you may recall, the $1 Million Spin & Go promotion was part of PokerStars’ December Festival. In it, special $5 buy-in Spin & Go tables were added to lobby for which the top two prize pool tiers were boosted to 1,200 times the buy-in and an insane 240,000 times the buy-in. That meant the grand prize for at the promotional Spin & Go tables was $1.2 million, with $1 million going to the winner and $100,000 each going to the other two players. No table got lucky to hit the 0.00003 percent long shot in December, but PokerStars extended the promotion until the end of January and now three tables hit the big one.
The first 240,000x multiple (or second overall) was spun two Saturdays ago. The Czech Republic’s “Tornádo111,” grabbed the million dollar prize in impressive fashion, making a huge comeback after being down to just three big blinds. He got aggressive to start building his stack by stealing blinds and then had a huge double-up when he called the all-in of “RusGreen,” who had A-J, with Q-7. A Queen on the flop and a 7 on the turn clinched the hand for Tornádo111 and the comeback was on.
He then used some more luck to knock out his opponents. With A-T, he caught a Ten against an AK, eliminating “newann” in second place. Just two hands later, he ended it. RusGreen was seriously short-handed and had to move all-in with A-2. Tornádo111 called with 6-5 and hit a straight to seal the deal and win a million dollars.
The next day, Canada’s “anushan_2323” stepped into the spotlight. The entire table of three was quite aggressive from the start, with several all-ins highlighting early play. Those all-ins were largely fruitless, though, as chips just moved around the table. Finally, like in the game the day before, the winner knocked out both of the other players. anushan_2323 first got rid of jukebox72 with A-T versus A-8 and then won the game in a race, with his A-K beating ChipsMongot’s pocket 8’s.
While it was likely disappointing for the second and third place players to not win the million dollars, hopefully they can still enjoy the $100,000 consolation prize.
