Mac poker players, rejoice! Your options at the tables have gotten a little bit broader. Recently, online poker room Bodog launched an Instant Play option that allows users to play on its software in a web browser. However, the new feature is limited to one table, making multi-tabling impossible for the foreseeable future.

A similar Instant Play option available for PartyPoker allows the site’s Mac faithful to compete on up to four tables at once. Web-based interfaces, which typically use either Flash or Java to operate, are also available on Absolute Poker, Sun Poker, and 888’s Pacific Poker, among others. The ability to be able to log onto Bodog and play in a browser is also ideal when using on a computer other than your own and is an easy excuse not to go through the process of downloading software. Several workplaces and internet connections also have download restrictions. Now, poker players on Bodog can bypass that hassle.

In addition, Bodog’s Instant Play version is limited to cash game tables. This means that players who want to play in the site’s weekly $100,000 Guaranteed or any of its Flight Club tournaments must download the full software in order to do so. In addition, players who want to multi-table will also need to install its regular software. The Instant Play software opens in a matter of seconds and takes users to a replica of the main cash game lobby found on Bodog.

The lobby lists cash games taking place on the site. These can be grouped according to stakes or number of seats. Bodog’s online poker room spreads $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold’em all the way up to $10/$20. Fixed Limit Hold’em games range from $0.05/$0.10 to $30/$60. Its cash games are infamously soft, as many of its members are migrants from the site’s popular sports book. Instant Play is limited to Texas Hold’em; Omaha, Stud, and other poker games are noticeably absent. However, Mac, Linux, and Windows poker players who want to tackle one table of Texas Hold’em will feel right at home.

Clicking on any table within the Instant Play lobby will reveal the number of players on the wait list, its average pot size, the average percent of players who see the flop, and the stack sizes of each person seated. No user name or password is required to log on and view tables. However, sitting down requires signing in. Both the lobby and table can be resized by dragging the corner of the web browser’s window, just as you would resize any other application. Bodog’s Instant Play software is powered by Flash, so players are advised to have the most recent version installed on their computers.

The online poker site is gearing up for its third Bodog Poker Open (BPO), which is slated to kick off sometime during the Spring months in the United States, although no official schedule has been given. zubs1aa assumed victory in the BPO II Main Event, taking home $75,000 and defeating a field of 477 players. Also at the final table of the tournament was Team Bodog member Justin Bonomo, who goes by the name ZeeJustin online. Bonomo ultimately finished in ninth place for just over $5,000. The inaugural BPO Main Event was won by online poker pro Shawn “phatcat” Luman. Bodog happily accepts players from the United States.

Other members of Team Bodog include David Williams, Evelyn Ng, and “Survivor: China” castaway Jean-Robert Bellande. The site also fronts a group of ambassadors, who include Smith “nevertilt22” Collins, Jose “head2782” Severino, Magnus “magpe” Petersson, and “Bodog Ari” Engel. Many of these players had bounties on their heads during various BPO tournaments.
