Better be confident
Circa Sports has announced a new ultra-high stakes NFL survivor pool called Circa Grandissimo. The contest costs a staggering $100,000 to enter and has a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool.
Those who enter will receive the “Grandissimo Experience,” regardless of how they fare in the competition. The package includes a round-trip Las Vegas flight on public charter airline JSX, a three-night founder’s suite stay at Circa Resort & Casino, limo transportation to and from the airport, an “Inaugural Class” GFore jacket, a one-year VSiN subscription, “Derek’s Signature Experience” at Stadium Swin, and several dining and drink experiences: a “personalized” experience with Chef Barry S. Dakake, a “curated” dining experience at Andiamo Steakhouse with Chef Neil Piche, and top-shelf alcoholic beverage tasting at Legacy Club.
Nevada high rollers will have the easiest time participating in Circa Grandissimo, as in-person registration in Las Vegas is required and weekly picks must be made from in the state, either in-person or online. Players may submit picks from out of state, but they must register with a Nevada-based proxy service to submit them on their behalf.
Participants may register up to two entries.
One pick a week, no repeats
For such a pricey contest, Circa Grandissimo is quite simple. Every week, participants will select one NFL team to win. If the team wins, that player moves on to the next week. If that team loses, the player is eliminated. Whichever player makes it through the entire season (18 weeks plus Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Christmas picks) or is the only player standing before the season is over, wins the entire prize pool. If more than one player makes it all the way, they will split the prize pool evenly.
The big catch: players may not select the same team twice. So it’s not as easy as just picking the biggest favorite or against one of the worst teams in the NFL every week. Planning is required. Risks need to be taken (and let’s face it: there are always upsets).
Circa Sports is famous for its NFL survivor contests. Its signature contest is simply called Circa Survivor, with a $1,000 entry fee (up to 10 entries per person) and a $15 million prize pool this year.
Last year’s Circa Survivor had a $10 million guarantee, but the eventual prize pool grew to $14.266 million. Thirty-five entries from eight players made it all the way through the season unscathed. Each winning entry earned $1,783,250.
