Day 4 of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Main Event concluded Monday and like Sunday, the composition of the leader board is almost completely different than it was to start the day. Just 23 players remain in the €5,300 tournament and it is a neck-and-neck battle for the top spot, with Marc MacDonnell barely leading Gleb Tremzin, 3.6 million chips to 3.535 million. Benjamin Lamprecht is also above the 3 million chip mark.

As my colleague Earl Burton reported last night, just two players who began Day 3 in the top ten were still in the top ten to close out the night. It was a similar story on Day 4; of the top ten players to begin Monday’s action, just three – MacDonnell, Samuel Vousden, and Ivan Deyra – remain at the top of the charts. MacDonnell jumped from tenth to first, Vousden stayed in fifth, and Deyra dropped from seventh to tenth. All of them, of course, finished with more chips than they started.

The top ten is also interesting in another regard: nine different countries are represented. Ireland is the lone country with two players at the table, MacDonnell and Gavin O’Rourke. Also in the mix are Russia, Austria, Spain, Finland, Brazil, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, and France. There are no Americans remaining, only one Canadian, and only one Brit.

The chip leader, MacDonnell, has experienced success both online and in live tournaments. He has over half a million dollars in live tournament winnings according to TheHendonMob.com, including ten World Series of Poker cashes and three EPT cashes. His best live cash came at this year’s WSOP, where he won $155,876 for a runner-up finish in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Hyper Turbo Event.

Online, MacDonnell is known by the screen name “sluglife,” or variations of it, on several poker sites. According to PocketFives.com, he has nearly $1 million in total online tournament earnings and is currently 2,058 in the site’s rankings.

The penultimate day of the EPT Prague Main Event will begin at noon CET and will continue until just six players remain. All of the players are in the money, but seven six-figure payouts are still at stake, with many of the remaining players eyeing the €921,540 top prize.
