Another day, another opportunity to GAMBOOL at an online poker room. Full Tilt Poker has introduced Flip Tournaments, allowing players to not as much play poker as play the lottery.

Flip Tournaments (derived from “coin flip”) are tournaments – either Scheduled or Sit & Go – in which every player is automatically put all-in on every hand. That’s it. All-in, hope for the best. No skill, just dumb luck. Regular Flip Tournaments can be either six or nine-handed, while Flip Sit & Go’s and Flip Shootouts also have heads-up varieties.

This crazy-quick tournament format leads into yet another: the Flipout Tournament. These are multi-table tournaments which start a Flip Shootouts; that is, everyone goes all-in immediately and one player advances from each table. After that, the survivors are reseated and the tournament proceeds as normal, with standard betting structures at all the rest of the trimmings. Most of the time, Full Tilt says, everyone who makes it past the Flip Shootout will be in the money.

Flipout Tournaments are marked with a white “F” on a purple background in the tournament lobby.

To celebrate the launch of Flipout Tournaments, Full Tilt Poker is hosting the Flipout Festival this coming four-day weekend, March 21st through March 24th. Each of the twelve Flipout Festival events consists of nine Flipout Tournaments which start five minutes apart. The first tournament in each event is a freeroll and from there, the buy-ins are as follows, in order: $0.22, $0.55, $1.10, $2.20, $3.30, $5.50, $11, and $26. Full Tilt is also adding the following money to the tournaments within each event: $50, $50, $50, $100, $100, $100, $200, $250, and $500.

The one exception to the above is the Main Event, which is the eighth event on the schedule. After the freeroll, the buy-ins will be $0.55, $1.10, $2.20, $3.30, $5.50, $11, $26, and $55. Full Tilt added money is $100, $100, $200, $200, $200, $400, $500, $1,000, and $2,000.

Players can register up to three times for each tournament with a real money buy-in.

The freerolls are open only to players who have earned at least a fraction of a Full Tilt Point within six days of the start of the tournament. So basically play a hand or two if you haven’t logged in for a while to be eligible. Each freeroll has a maximum field of 900 players and registration opens an hour before kickoff.

In addition to the prize money, everyone who reaches the final table of a Flipout Festival tournament will receive a Full Tilt Poker cap and all winners will be awarded a Full Tilt Poker hoodie.

For those who do not get past the Flip Shootout portion of a tournament, there is still hope. For every five out-of-the-money bustouts a person suffers, he will be given an entry into the Final Flipout Freeroll, to be held Saturday, March 29th at 2:15pm ET. The winner will receive an iPad Air Wi-Fi, the top eight will get a Full Tilt backpack, hoodie, and cap, and the rest of the top 128 will win a hoodie.
