Full Tilt Poker Pro Phil Ivey was featured in this weeks WSOP coverage on ESPN because he is by far the player who will attract the most attention from the media as well as from the players railing the action.

Like all of the ‘November Nine’, Ivey has one million dollars guaranteed in his pocket, but he also has millions in prop bets riding on his performance at the final table. People’s perception of Ivey won’t change after his performance at the final table as they already know that he has won two WSOP bracelets this year and if he manages to take down the final table he will go down in history as the only person to win 3 bracelets in one year on two different occasions.

On this weeks coverage of the WSOP, Phil Ivey got involved in a hand vs. Jordan Smith and eventually folded the winning hand. As inexplicable as it seems, it just proves that Phil Ivey is, in fact, a human being and capable of making mistakes. He just makes them way less often than normal poker players.

Phil is the only player in the final table that avoids the spot light and does nothing special to prepare for the big event.  Some players are taking coaching lessons and others are working on marketing deals, except Darvin Moon, because he doesn’t want to be tied to a poker room. Darvin Moon is just an average Joe who wanted to give the WSOP his best shot, and he’ll continue that shot come November as the sentimental favorite.
