We are living in tough times right now. The coronavirus pandemic gets worse by the day. Most of us are sheltered in our homes, not leaving except to grab a few groceries. The most fortunate of us are simply massively inconvenienced by this whole mess. If you do fall into that group and are looking for something to fill the time besides Netflix, GGPoker has launched a couple promotions that require nothing except playing poker as always. And the best part is that one of them is absolutely free.

The StayHome Freeroll is just that: a free tournament. There is one on GGPoker at the top of every hour. Each has a prize pool of only $100, but you can’t expect GGPoker to shower you with riches when they are hosting 24 freerolls a day. Depending on the hour, anywhere from about 200-600 players have been entering. The top 9 make the money.

There is one minor catch, though calling it a “catch” isn’t really the right way to put it. You can only play in one of the StayHome Freerolls per day. The “reverse catch,” however, is that no deposit is required to play in any of the freerolls. Players who don’t have accounts can just create one and register for a tourney.

For those who want a chance to win a bit more money and feel like actually ponying up a buy-in for a tournament, GGPoker is reducing the maximum tournament fee from 10 percent to 8 percent.

Cash game players aren’t without a promotion, so don’t fret. On Monday, GGPoker started the Rush & Cash Daily 15K Leaderboard, which is really exactly what it sounds like. GGPoker is apparently quite good at being literal in its promotional titles.

To earn points on the leaderboards, players must participate in Rush & Cash games, GGPoker’s brand of the fast-fold cash game. Points are earned for clicking the different action buttons in a hand: one point for a fold, two for a call, three for a bet/raise, and three when opting for all-in insurance. GGPoker has set a cap on the number of points that can be earned in a hand at ten. The exception is when a player earns a random cash drop, which gets them another ten points.

During Happy Hours – 02:00:00 to 04:00:00 UTC – points are doubled. The cap is doubled to 20, as well.

There are six leaderboards in the Rush & Cash Daily 15K promo, each of which corresponds to a Rush & Cash buy-in level. Thus, those playing $1/$2 are not competing for leaderboard points with those at $0.01/$0.02.

One other note about GGPoker: last week was High Rollers Week on the network. There were 96 events with buy-ins ranging from $210 to $5,000 and guaranteed prize pools totaling at least $9 million. 0.5 percent of the prize pools were donated to COVID-19 front-line charities, an amount matched by GGPoker.

Stay safe, everyone. I wish I could play online poker from my house. Guess I’ll just keep writing about it.
