On Sunday, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom defeated Scott “urnotindangr” Palmer in a highly anticipated PokerStars SuperStar Showdown rematch. The second encounter between the two ended with Blom notching $66,000 in profit after a four-and-a-half hour battle.

In last weekend’s opening match, which also stretched for 2,500 hands, Palmer lodged a slight win over Blom to the tune of $5,400. On Sunday, the action continued for another 2,500 hands and Blom started out fast and furious. On a board of K-A-K-10-Q, Blom moved all-in with Big Slick for a boat and Palmer made the call with Q-J for a straight. The $21,000 pot was pushed towards Blom, who never trailed for the rest of the day. Given the swings of $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em, that’s pretty impressive.

In fact, after just 200 hands out of the 2,500 required for completion, Blom was up $22,000. Nearly every big pot went directly to the Swede’s coffers, including a $28,000 haul when Blom’s A-K of hearts held against Palmer’s pocket nines.

In another pot, Blom’s A-9 drew out on pocket tens after a straight came through on the river. That one was worth $32,000 and Blom’s victory train continued to roll.

By the time 1,000 hands were in the books, Blom was up over $68,000. Then, the money went into the middle on a 9-7-10-9-3 three-diamond board and both players showed flushes. Blom held A-2 of the suit for the nut flush, while Palmer’s Q-J of diamonds was second best.

Blom ultimately surged ahead by over $100,000 before slowly giving way. Palmer committed his chips on a 5-5-J flop with A-J and Blom showed A-K. No help came for the Swedish PokerStars pro and Palmer scooped a pot worth $20,000. Then, Blom bet out with a busted straight draw on the river only to receive a call from Palmer, who held two pair, to drop another $20,000 pot.

In one of the final hands of the afternoon, Blom’s K-Q of hearts could not out-race Palmer’s pocket jacks, sending yet another $20,000 pot to “urnotindangr.” By the time the 2,500th hand was dealt, “Isildur1” was up $66,000 on the day and $61,000 overall against Palmer.

Blom has now recorded SuperStar Showdown wins over Palmer, PartyPoker pro Tony G, Durrrr Challenge combatant Dan “jungleman12” Cates, Eugene Katchalov, online qualifier Attila “DodgyFish72” Gulcsik, and PokerStars front man Daniel Negreanu.

The two-week match between Blom and Palmer garnered considerable interest from posters on TwoPlusTwo. One wrote that he was shocked to see Palmer getting owned: “urnotindangr is getting beat very hard. Actually just as bad as Daniel Negreanu in the 1st match. Didn’t expect that.” Another player vividly asserted, “Isildur reminds me of that hulking beast-like creature in the movie ‘300’ that is led by chains around his neck into battle to slash and kill everything in front of him.”

The next PokerStars SuperStar Showdown has not been announced. The last two matches each stretched for two weeks, while prior installments lasted just one week, so perhaps Blom will be taking a well deserved siesta.
