Online poker site PKR.com celebrated its fourth birthday on August 17 and celebrated some impressive achievements since its launch in 2006. The next generation 3D poker room has amassed more than 3,750,000 registered players on the site, with as many as 15,850 people playing online at once, and a total of $2,925,816.31 has been given away in freerolls.

Along the way, PKR.com has produced its own poker magazine, started its own TV show, and sponsored London’s first licensed live poker venue. PKR.com has also assembled a talented group of players for its Team PKR Pro, which is made entirely of up-and-coming players from the site. Among the pros representing PKR.com are Adrien “zlatan35 Allain, Kai “kingkai84” Paulsen, James “james666” Sudworth, and Sofia “welllbet” Lövgren, the First Lady of Team PKR.

“We’re very proud of our achievements to date,” said PKR.com marketing director Simon Prodger. “We came against a lot of pessimism for being so innovative when we launched, but our customers have shown that they enjoy playing in our true to life environment and really appreciate the community feel.”

As part of the birthday celebration, PKR.com launched version 2.0 of its visionary software this week, which features an overhauled lobby that allows players to use a game finder wizard to locate the games and tournaments they want. Also included in the upgrade is a multi-table enhancement which allows users to play up to nine tables at once.

Leon Walters, PKR.com’s Chief Operating Officer said, “Version 2.0 of PKR has been in the pipeline for almost a year, and it’s just the start of what we have planned. Version 2.0 is all about making PKR easier and more enjoyable to play.”

In even more PKR.com news this week, the site announced the dates and location of its popular PKR Live event. PKR Live V returns November 12-14 and will take place at a new home, the Fox Poker Club in London, England. The $500 buy-in 150 runner Main Event gets underway on Nov. 13 with an estimated prize pool of $75,000.

“The countdown for PKR Live V begins! It’s great that for our fifth outing we have a brand new venue and some fantastic new events in store for the players,” PKR.com Marketing Manager Erika Schwartz said. “It’s a weekend we all look forward to, players and staff alike, and we’re planning to make this the best one yet.”

Gábor “Gab1988” Vasvenszki took down the PKR Live IV Main Event at London’s Loose Cannon Club last year, collecting $20,000. Before him, Vincent “vd12345” Diver won the third event, Karl “discomonkey” Fenton was victorious in the second event and Phillip “escalope” Coneller was the first ever winner of PKR Live.
