Recently, one of the top poker training sites in the world got a little bit bigger. PokerXFactor, which is fronted by Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy and Eric “sheets” Haber, among others, signed top Omaha pro Scott Clements, who is better known in the online poker world as BigRiskky. The two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) and World Poker Tour (WPT) champion brings a unique perspective to the burgeoning site.
Chris Wallace, who goes by the name “Fox” in the online poker world and is one of the chief instructors at PokerXFactor, told Poker News Daily, “It’s a great coup for PokerXFactor to get a guy like Scott Clements. The site is so loaded with top-flight tournament players that I may quit playing cash games and just have these guys teach me how to make millions playing tournaments.” Clements’ first WSOP bracelet came during the 2006 tournament series in a $3,000 buy-in Omaha High-Low Split event for $301,000. In 2007, he was back in the winner’s circle again, this time in a $1,500 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha tournament, earning nearly $200,000. Clements won the Season VI North American Poker Championship on the WPT circuit for $1.4 million.
During Season V of the WPT, he took eighth in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for $151,000. In 2006, he grabbed a win in the Canadian Poker Open held as part of the North American Poker Championship for over $200,000. All told, his success has spread across the worlds of Omaha and Texas Hold’em. Online, he’s taken down the PokerStars Sunday Million, the industry’s richest weekly tournament, for $191,000 and cashed in the Main Event of the site’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for over $40,000.
Josephy has also experienced a wealth of success in both live and online poker. He won a $1,500 Seven Card Stud tournament during the 2005 WSOP for $192,000 and his first (and only) gold bracelet. The next year, he made the final table and finished fourth in a Seven Card Razz tournament for $39,000. In 2006, Josephy finished as the runner up to Devon Miller in the Aruba Poker Classic, the annual live tournament sponsored by Ultimate Bet. He has a career total of $280,000 in WPT tournament cashes, including a 12th place finish in the 2006 WPT Championship at the Bellagio.
Joining Clements and Josephy as instructors on PokerXFactor are Poker News Daily guest columnist Eric “Rizen” Lynch, Michael “inissint” Glasser, Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet, Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul, and Chris “brsavage” Savage. Its Hand Replayer has become an industry standard and was even featured on the CBS News program “60 Minutes” showing the hands played by POTRIPPER as the cheating scandal on Absolute Poker unfolded. It allows students and teachers on PokerXFactor to relive and discuss past hand histories with relative ease.
Wallace added, “We have a personal touch with live instructor chats, live instructor audio, and have some of the best players at the world in the games they play.” The training site is one of many in its market. Recently, CardRunners merged with rival site StoxPoker. Their parent company then introduced Free Poker Training, which allows members to earn points on Full Tilt Poker in exchange for subscriptions to CardRunners and StoxPoker. Free Poker Training launched in the beginning of 2009.
The latest videos produced by PokerXFactor pros include Mscell playing a $30 rebuy on Full Tilt, Clements battling it out in an Omaha High contest, and a five part series focusing on Haber winning a $100 rebuy, one of the most difficult online poker tournaments. Also featured is a discussion by Lynch on how to play A-Q offsuit, a common dilemma for poker players.
