In nine short days, the fifth Ultimate Bet Online Championship (UBOC) will kick off on the virtual felts of the CEREUS Network sites UB.com and Absolute Poker. This month marks the second UBOC installment of 2010, as the first panned out in January and featured David “DoubleDave22” D’Alesandro taking down the Championship Event.
UBOC 5 will award at least $4 million in prize money across 20 online poker tournaments. The series, which runs concurrently with a MiniUBOC counterpart, culminates in a $1,050 buy-in Championship Event on August 29th. The feature tournament, hosted by 11-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, will guarantee at least $1 million, ensuring potentially life-changing money for whoever comes out on top of the pack. In January, 1,307 players entered the Championship Event and D’Alesandro banked $279,000.
The CEREUS Network is running several promotions in conjunction with UBOC 5, including a Single Event Satellite Contest that awards Tournament Dollars to the players who rack up the most satellite wins to each UBOC 5 tournament. In addition, the Network is holding three $5,000 freerolls for players who satellite into more than one UBOC 5 event. Anyone who manages to satellite into 17 or more of the 20 UBOC 5 events automatically wins a seat in the $1,050 Championship Event.
Finally, the Bubble Buster promotion rewards players for cashing in UBOC 5 tournaments. Anyone who makes the money in two UBOC tournaments will claim a $10,000 freeroll entry. Prizes escalate all the way up to $1 million, which will go to players who manage to cash in 11 or more UBOC 5 events.
