Racks of 2022 WSOP chips

A few clicks and done

It’s 2025 and the World Series of Poker may have finally streamlined the tournament registration process. On Tuesday, the WSOP announced the launch of WSOP+, an app it says will “revolutionize the participant experience at the WSOP.”

“WSOP+ will further elevate the WSOP experience for all of our players,” said WSOP Chief Executive Officer Ty Stewart in a press release. “Not only can our community now save time and effort by registering in advance for their favorite tournaments, but the app will also showcase WSOP content and all of the important event information that participants are eager to have at their fingertips!”

Available for iOS and Android, WSOP+ allows players to register for World Series of Poker events right in the app, as far ahead of time as they want, without worrying about having to stand in a long line at the casino.

Push notifications that aren’t annoying

But wait, as they say, there’s more. For players who register late and get on a waiting list, the app contains the modern-day convenience of a virtual queue and a paging system, just like what many restaurants have.

So those that end up waiting for a seat in a tournament don’t have to stand there, worried they will miss out on their chance to take a seat when it’s their turn. Instead, the WSOP+ app will send a push notification when the time has arrived. Obviously, players will want to be nearby, but they don’t have to stalk the tournament room.

“The advantages of bringing WSOP+ online in time for the next World Series of Poker in Las Vegas are endless,” said WSOP Senior Vice President of Poker Operations Jack Effel. “Players should feel an immediate positive impact on their experience when they arrive this summer. Beyond WSOP+’s advanced features, there’s no question this innovation should reduce wait times, allowing participants more time to get to the felt and enjoy the events they love.”

Can pay on the app, too

The app also has all the tournament information a person could want, like player lists, payout structure, blind levels, and the tournament clock. There is even a “story” tab for each event so players can discuss the tournament, like on social media.

If there is a catch, it is that players are still required to complete a one-time, in-person identity verification at the Online Registration area inside the Champagne Ballroom in “Les Centre Des Conventions” at Paris Las Vegas. So if you are traveling from out of town and have never done the ID verification, you won’t be able to pre-register for any events until you get to Las Vegas.

Players can pay their entry fees on the WSOP+ via credit card (3% processing fee), ACH (US players), PayPal, Paris tournament accounts, WSOP Online qualifiers, and Luxon Pay (for non-US players).
