Things just keep getting better for poker players in the state of Pennsylvania. It was announced today that FOX Bet and PokerStars will  open the doors to the inaugural Pennsylvania Winter Series. The event will tie in with the promotion of the upcoming NFL Super Bowl alongside poker tournaments exclusively for residents of the state of Pennsylvania.

Football Inspired Poker Tournaments

Beginning on January 25, the Pennsylvania Winter Series will kick off with “The Warmup,” a $50 buy in No Limit Hold’em event. For the next week, there will be a variety of events entitled with football-themed names (“The Punt,” “The Turnover,” “Hail Mary”) and a variety of buy ins. Those will range from $30 mini-buy in events on up to the Main Event (“The Big Game”), which will have a $300 buy in.

In addition to these specially themed events, there will be something more important up for the players – guaranteed cash. Tournament guarantees will range from as low as $8000 (the Pot Limit Omaha based, $50 buy in “The Drive”) to the $50,000 guaranteed “The Blitz,” a $200 buy in No Limit Hold’em tournament. The Main Event will feature a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, bringing the total guarantees for the event to $675,000.

Second Chances Galore, New Depositor Bennies…

For those that enter any of the events during the Pennsylvania Winter Series but come up short of the money, you’ll have some second chance opportunities. Each day a “Second Chance All-In Shootout” will take place. If you play in a Winter Series event and fail to cash, you’ll receive a ticket to one of the Shootouts. If you’re a winner in these Shootouts, you’ll take part in $7000 of Winter Series prizes that will be awarded.

For those who haven’t yet been enticed to join in with PokerStars PA, there are plenty of reasons to make your first deposit. If you deposit more than $30 using the code “WINTER,” you’ll be given a Depositor Freeroll ticket. This freeroll, which will be held on February 1, will give out 25 tickets to “The Big Game” (the Main Event of the Pennsylvania Winter Series), meaning that $7500 in prizes will be up for grabs.

PokerStars PA Currently Riding High

Since its introduction, PokerStars PA has been riding high in the regulated intra-state U. S. online poker industry. It is currently the highest drawing regulated online poker site in the country, vastly outpacing the three-state compacted WSOP.com. According to statistics from PokerScout, PokerStars PA is drawing a seven day average of 400 cash game players (the statistical measure of success in the online poker industry). This nearly doubles the player numbers of WSOP.com, who uses their three-state compact (from Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware) to only draw 220 players on a seven day average.

If the Pennsylvania Winter Series is a success, you can count that PokerStars PA will continue to roll out more big tournament series for the state. For a look at the schedule of the upcoming Winter Series, be sure to visit PokerStars PA here.
