PokerStars

PokerStars and the Asian Pacific Poker Tour did an outstanding job with the Macau event, which was hosted by one of most luxurious casinos in Asia, the Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino. The field was the largest to date for the event with four hundred and twenty nine players and a two million dollar prize pool.

There were many PokerStars qualifiers and poker pros in the event, as well as quite a few locals who showed their great poker skills at the tables and truly underscored the growth of poker in Macau.

The 2009 APPT Macau main event was won by the player that finished in 3rd place at the No Limit Hold’em Welcome Event at Macau. He had also finished in 5th place at the Irish Masters in 2008. Dermont Blain played the final table with outstanding skills, applying aggression when it was needed and outplaying every opponent who got in his way.

Overall it was one of the best events ever hosted in Asia and it was great to see some of the big names at the tables supporting such a nice event. WSOP champions and PokerStars pros Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker and Johnny Chan were very pleased with the organization of the event.

The next APPT event will be in Auckland at the SKYCITY Festival of Poker on October 14th to the 18th.
