Episode 4 Part 2 picks up with Shaun Deeb joining Jon Friedberg on The Showdown.

This is Part 2 of Episode 4. If you missed it, be sure to watch Part 1 of Episode 4.

The conversation continues about Twitter and the internet blogging phenomenon. Friedberg makes a comment about all the acronyms and new words coming out of people making use of only 160 characters and Deeb is quick to add to that point.

Deeb said, “There are actually some people that consider themselves skilled at shortening stuff for Twitter. For example, if you are five characters short they find a way to make it shorter… It’s kind of cool and its forcing people to make them think more … in a summary.”

The next topic on the table is about Deeb’s reputation and what a day in the life of Shaun Deeb is like. Deeb responded, “Well while I am living in Vegas I wake up at any random time, I’ll get up and take a shower … I’ll fire up my laptop see what games are going on and jump in a few of them and play for a few hours. Then I’ll go out to dinner and come home and play some more.”

Friedberg then continues by asking if Deeb is more likely to play cash games. Deeb confirms, “Yes I almost exclusively play cash games. Every so often I will play Sunday tournaments or a random 1k, and I’m looking forward to the multi-entry tournaments.”

The focus then shifts to Deeb’s involvement with a new poker training site. It’s a live poker training site, and Deeb was approached about a year ago after being pitched the business plan and was the first major pro to sign aboard. Right now Deeb is trying to sign the biggest names that have yet to be signed to a major poker training site and make the program very attractive to people that was live poker training. The concept is that people fly out to Vegas and train in-person with Deeb and the other pros to take their games to the next level.

“We’ll think about everything that you can think about in tournaments… [there will be time for] question and answering, and [we’ll] spend a lot of time … bringing people up a level or two in their game. For people that want to be a better player … this is going to be a good investment,” explained Deeb.

Other points of conversation revolve around Deeb’s approach to poker and some of the things that he does to make himself successful. In addition, Deeb talks about what it’s like being a well known pro and how he approaches things like 3betting on the bubble of a final table in a big tournament.

The last question posed to Deeb was about the new professional poker tour put together by Annie Duke and Jeffrey Pollack. Deeb responded by pointing out both the positives and negatives about the concept put together and how it might be put together to succeed.

To wrap up, Friedberg reminds viewers to tweet in their feelings about Annie Duke’s new poker league to @JonFriedberg or through email to jonfriedberg@gmail.com. Don’t forget to sign up at UB.com to participate in UBOC6 and use cash bonus promo code “UBPND” when you sign up.
