Celebrating the best in poker over the last year, the 2022 Global Poker Awards were handed out on Friday night in the PokerGO Studios in Las Vegas. Cementing his exceptional performance in 2021, Ali Imsirovic was the big winner of the night, netting three GPA trophies for his efforts. Jamie Kerstetter backed up her 2020 Best Twitter Personality award by winning the same trophy in 2022, while poker ambassador Veronica Brill earned a statue for her charitable works.

Imsirovic “Never in My Wildest Dreams…”

Imsirovic’s excellent performance in 2021 had already locked up two of the GPA statues. His overall tournament work in 2021 picked him up the GPI Player of the Year trophy and his work on the 2021 PokerGO Tour earned him the accolades for PokerGO Tour Player of the Year. Those two were already known prior to the ceremonies, but Imsirovic was still humble in receiving the accolades.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think this was possible,” Imsirovic noted in his speech after picking up the dual awards. “It feels surreal. I couldn’t even describe the shock and disbelief my 18-year-old self would have.”

The night wasn’t over for Imsirovic, however. In a highly difficult field of him, Michael Addamo, Stephen Chidwick, and David Peters, Imsirovic earned the nod from his peers. “I feel like I won this one because Addamo isn’t here, to be honest,” Imsirovic joked as he picked up the trophy for Players’ Choice for Toughest Opponent.

The ladies were also well represented during the Global Poker Awards ceremonies. Veronica Brill won for the Best Charitable Initiative Award for her work in aiding KL Cleeton’s efforts to get to the 2021 World Series of Poker. Jamie Kerstetter earned her second GPA for Best Twitter Personality, while Nadya Magnus picked up the statue for GPI Female Poker Player of the Year.
