We’re just 48 hours away from the quarterly Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS), which fires up its 17th installment on Wednesday. August’s edition will pony up at least $19 million in prize money spread across a whopping 34 tournaments.
During FTOPS XVI, 30 events played out, making the 17th cycle the largest in the history of the Full Tilt promotion. FTOPS XVII gets underway with a $216 No Limit Hold’em event with a $750,000 guaranteed prize pool. The same event was the opening gala of FTOPS XVI and attracted a starting grid of 3,673 players. When the smoke cleared, “BRO20” defeated “E-Cart7” heads-up to bank $134,000. All was not lost for “E-Cart7,” however, who walked away with a $93,000 payday.
FTOPS XVII is larger in part because it features six Rush Poker tournaments, twice as many as played out last time around. These patent-pending contests allow players to be whisked away to a new table with a new group of opponents every time their action in a hand ends. This means a high-octane experience for everyone involved. In FTOPS XVII, Rush Poker will be featured in Pot Limit Omaha Eight or Better, No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold’em Super Turbo, Limit Hold’em, and No Limit Hold’em Rebuy tournaments.
Any player who makes the final table of an FTOPS XVII event collects a limited edition Full Tilt Poker jacket to wear as winter approaches in the Northern Hemisphere. Winners of FTOPS XVII tournaments, in addition to picking up a wad of cash, will also claim a gold FTOPS jersey and special avatar to sport when playing on the virtual felts of the world’s second largest online poker site.
Finally, the player who lands atop the FTOPS XVII Leaderboard when the smoke clears takes home a custom Full Tilt avatar along with an FTOPS XVIII prize package that includes entry into every tournament sans the Two-Day event. Here’s a look at what’s in store in the coming days on Full Tilt:
