While he may not be well known in the United States, Jorpeland, Norway’s Johnny Lodden has been a terror in the online world for several years and, most recently, in the European live poker arena. Lodden took 27th in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, falling one day short of the November Nine.
After crushing the online games on an array of sites – when the Prima Poker Network was around, he often played in some of the highest stakes online cash games, buying in for upwards of $40,000 – Lodden moved to PokerStars to ply his skills. At one point, he was considered one of the largest winners in online cash games before Full Tilt Poker opened up its schedule of high-stakes games backed by its stable of pros. As a PokerStars sponsored poker player, he has been a part of many of the European Poker Tour (EPT) stops over the past four years.
Lodden has earned eight cashes in EPT events, making the final table of the 2008 Budapest tournament. Because of his highly volatile playing style, he either will drive deep into tournaments or “flame out” prior to making significant money. Over his six-year tournament career, Lodden has earned slightly more than $617,000 in tournaments covering Belgium, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Ireland, Australia, and the United States.
Lodden’s payday in the 2010 WSOP Main Event was his largest ever cash in a tournament. Prior to that, his previous best was for his 11th place finish at the WSOP Europe Main Event in 2008.
