The Olympics keep inspiring poker rooms to launch special promotions: Paddy Power Poker has recently announced they will hold their own PPP Olympics with over $20,000 in prizes. The PPP Olympics will kick off on August 8, just like the real ones in Beijing.

The week-long PPP Olympics will feature two themed tournaments every day, all with a buy-in of $5 + $0.50. Each tournament is named after a sport, and they have different structures and limits to suit every taste: for example there is “Judo” (Pot Limit Omaha freezeout,) “High Jump” (Pot Limit Hold’em with rebuys) and “100 Meters Sprint” (No Limit Hold’em with 5 minute blind levels.) Paddy Power has added $250 to the prize pools of all the tourneys except for the last (and biggest) one – the “Marathon” – a $10 + $1 tournament with an added $1000. The Marathon will feature very deep stacks of 5,000 chips, and longer 15 min. blind levels.

The Paddy Power Poker Olympics will end with a $10,000 cash added freeroll which will also give away seats and satellite entries for the Irish Winter Festival. To qualify for the Gold Medal Freeroll players must simply play in at least three of the week’s tournaments. The winner will take a $4500 package for the Irish Winter Festival, and runner ups will be entered into satellites for this tourney.

A Paddy Power Poker spokesman enthused about the PPP Olympics: “I know there is a lot of excitement right now about the small sporting event due to take place in Beijing in August, but we wanted to offer something even more exciting for our players. We’re giving away over $20,000 to those players willing to show us they’re at the top of their game and trying to get on the podium.”
