PartyPoker, now the second largest poker room on the internet, is launching a new promotion next week, dubbed “World Domination.” In World Domination, the goal is to play at real money tables, collect “cities,” and win money along the way. Let’s see how it works.
Starting midnight ET on November 7th, all players competing at real money tables will receive “cities,” or game pieces of sorts, for every 10 PartyPoints they earn. There are 72 cities in all, spanning four of the planet’s seven continents (as well as “Oceania”) and 18 countries; each is distributed randomly. Cash prizes will be awarded for several cities, for collecting all four cities in a specific country, and for collecting all of the cities on a continent.
Nine cities award instant cash prizes, from $20 for Berlin down to $1 for Warsaw. Another nine cities come with a freeroll ticket. Hyderabad awards the richest freeroll seat, a tournament with a prize pool of $10,000, while Vancouver is the cheapest, with “just” a $1,000 freeroll. The freerolls will not be played until next year, the earliest being held on April 1, 2012. Anyone who receives the same a freeroll entry more than once will receive 5 PartyPoints for each additional entry after the first one, but will obviously only be permitted to grab one seat in the freeroll. For example, if someone were to win three entries into the Vancouver freeroll, he would be awarded with one real seat in the tournament and 10 PartyPoints.
The 18 countries represented in the World Domination promotion are comprised of four cities each. Anyone who collects the four cities in a single country will win more significant cash prizes. At the top of the list is England, which, if completed, will award a $1,500 prize. The other most valuable countries include France ($1,200), Canada ($1,100), and Russia ($1,000). At $75 each, Japan and New Zealand come in at the bottom, though we suspect nobody will turn their nose up at free money.
And then there are the continents. Collecting all the cities on a single continent is a very lucrative endeavor. Here is what players will be shooting for:
• Europe – – $20,000
• South America – $15,000
• North America – $10,000
• Asia – $5,000
• Oceania – $2,000
But it doesn’t end there. Should someone collect all 72 cities in the contest, he will have achieved World Domination. For that, a $100,000 deposit is the prize.
Each player can collect up to 100 cities every day and as a small bonus, the first city for everyone will be awarded at 5 points, rather than 10 (all subsequent cities will be awarded every 10 points). If a player earns partial points towards a city by the time the new day starts, those points will be carried over, provided the player earned fewer than 1,000 points that day. For instance, if someone earns 54 points on November 11th, he will earn 5 cites for the first 50 points and the remaining 4 points will carry over to November 12th.
The World Domination promotion will run through the end of 2011 or until all cities have been awarded, whichever comes first.
