The first event of the year in the ANZPT Season II started yesterday and the festivities will run until February 14th. There are a total of seven events scheduled in the second season and players will be traveling to various cities around Australia and New Zealand.

In the event last year a total of 215 players registered for the tournament and in 2010 a total of 73 players started the tournament on day 1A and only forty of them advanced for day two. The chip leader after the first day of action was held by the PokerStars qualifier Bruno Da Silva with with 85K chips.

A total of 66 players started the tournament on day 1B; among those players there are a few poker pros like Eric Assadourian, Amanda De Cesare and Aaron “azzabentonaces” Benton. Other well known players that entered the tournament on day two are: Andrew “adgee” Jeffreys, Julian Cohen, Jackie Glazier, Mike “sirwatts” Watson, Fref Chaptini, Sam Chaptini and Andrew Lichtenberger among many others.

At the end of day 1B Sam Rotar held the chip lead; he and thirty seven other players will be joining the remaining players from day 1A. The tournament will continue today with the third and final first day, and if things run as the days before, there will be more players in the tourney this year than in ’09.
