Day 1A of EPT Vilamoura ended with 76 players out of the initial 136.  Among the field were several PokerStars pros and qualifiers who had a good day at the tables and ended with big chip stacks. When play stopped the chip lead was in the hands of the PokerStars qualifier Dominykas Karmazinas, who had 183K in chips followed closely by the PokerStrars pro Ruben Visser with 172K chips.

A total of six PokerStars pros started in the tournament but only five of them will return for a second day at the tables: Ruben Visser, Katja Thater, Chad Brown, Jason Mercier and Joep van den Bijgaart.  The sixth player was Arnaud Mattern but he ran queens into kings and was eliminated.

Day 1B brought more PokerStars pros to the tables as well as qualifiers.  Names like Peter Eastgate, Luca Pagano, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Nonu Coelho, Alex Kravchenko, Carter Phillips, Vanessa Rousso and Marcin Horecki among others were in contention of the top prizes.  Unfortunately for Eastgate, his run at the EPT Vilamoura did not last long as he busted during level six.  Rousso and Horecki have been nursing short stacks and could well join Eastgate in some side games.

The chip lead is currently held by Danish player Allan Baekke and he is closely followed by the Italian Marco Dellatommasina.

Luca Pagano currently sits atop the EPT Leaderboard with 3,419 points, followed by Bertrand Grospelier who trails by less than 100 points.
