According to Poker News Daily, PokerStars is adding a €2,200 event at EPT Barcelona called “In the Money at 180,000” for the August 17–27 run at Casino Barcelona. In this format, any player who builds a 180,000-chip stack during Day 1 ends play on the spot, advances to Day 2 with that stack, and is guaranteed a payout. Poker News Daily also reported that EPT Tournament Director Toby Stone said the setup allows players to secure their Day 2 berth and cash as soon as they reach the target.
As Poker News Daily reported, the full Barcelona festival is set for August 16–29, with the €5,300 EPT Main Event scheduled from August 22–29. Other marquee tournaments on the slate include the €1,650 PokerStars Open Main Event, the €10,300 EPT High Roller, and the €100,000 Super High Roller. Poker News Daily also noted that Thomas Eychenne won last year’s Main Event for more than €1.2 million, and that the field ranked as the third-largest Main Event turnout in EPT history.
Poker News Daily also outlined the festival’s off-table offerings, which include welcome drinks, karaoke, quiz and games nights, a sports match-up, and a Guess the Hand contest. The report added that the EPT Wellness Community will run yoga and Pilates sessions each day from August 18 through August 27. On the media side, coverage is slated to begin August 23, with seven days of live streaming on PokerStars’ Twitch and Facebook channels in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Brazilian Portuguese, the latter appearing at the festival for the first time.
Per Poker News Daily, the PokerStars Live League will also be part of the series, with €157,500 in PokerStars LIVE credit set aside for the top three finishers in each of the Low, Medium, and High tiers. The same report said the top 30 players in every tier will earn seats in a €100,000 live freeroll at the first EPT stop of 2027.
