Helping others when they are facing difficult times is something that we should all do: we all share the world, and at some point in your life you might need some help from a person or charity that will extend you a hand when you are facing a difficult situation. We help when we can, and we will be helped when we need it.
Right now our fellow brothers and sisters in Haiti are confronted with a very difficult situation: besides being the poorest country in the Americas they have recently experienced a devastating earthquake that has destroyed thousands of homes and several multi-story buildings; the estimated number of deaths isin the hundred thousand range. Due to the devastation the country has experienced, access to the most affected parts has been difficult and the relief donations have taken some time to reach those in need.
The poker community worldwide is known for being very supportive when it comes to donating money for causes that affect humanity, and Cake Poker wants to provide a tool that all players can feel free to use in order to make their donation reach the troubled people in Haiti.
Cake Poker has created three different types of tournaments named “Haiti Donations”, the buy-in varies depending on the amount that each person wants to contribute with. The amounts available are $5, $25 and $100 and the tournaments will be open for registration until January 31st. Players should keep in mind that there will be no poker playing involved and that all the money gathered will be doubled by Cake Poker and donated to the American Red Cross for Haitian relief.
