Dan Cates, the high-stakes poker player known widely as Jungleman, has a memoir scheduled for release in May. Titled Pokerworld, the book is being published by Matt Holt Books and distributed through Simon & Schuster. Rather than a strategy guide, the work is framed as memoir material covering Cates’ life and career at the poker table.
According to PokerNews, the book was authored by Rick Maese, who works for The Washington Post. The 208-page volume traces Cates’ path from his early days in online poker through later involvement in private games held across multiple countries. Preorders are currently available at Target and Amazon, with a listed price of $28.
PokerNews also reported on Cates’ competitive record, noting that the 36-year-old Maryland native has two World Series of Poker bracelets to his name. Both came via the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, which he won in consecutive years — 2021 and 2022. The Hendon Mob credits him with more than $19 million in live tournament earnings.
Beyond tournaments, Cates made headlines in 2025 when he won three consecutive heads-up matches against Ossi Ketola, a run that PokerNews reported generated a profit of approximately $15 million for Cates.
