We’re on set for this third part of the behind-the-scenes look at the WPT. In this video our own Sean Gibson sits down with World Poker Tour host and commentator Mike Sexton right at the very stage where all the magic happens. During their chat, our camera crew was able to get some great shots of the crew and talent getting ready for the start of taping at the WPT Legends final table. This video was shot just prior to the start of taping on August 25, 2010 about two hours before principle filming was to begin.

The first question posed for Sexton, who is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, is about all the set-up required for the set. He speaks at length about all the crew and staff required to put together a television set of this magnitude and the preparation required to make it work. The next question asked is about the lengthy post-production process and how the WPT takes hours upon hours of footage and puts it together into its traditional two 1-hour episode format. Sexton explains how the process works while they are shooting live, with a very surprising revelation (to some) about his ability to see the hole cards (note: he doesn’t see them when they are filming!).

Gibson then poses an interesting question to Sexton about what mix of players they hope to get at a final table. Is it all top name pros like Phil Ivey and Justin “BoostedJ” Smith like the recent Bellagio Cup event? Or is it a good mix of pros and amateurs? Sexton explains his perspective in this interview.

Finally, Sexton explains what his final preparations are as they are about to film, which include him going to all the final six players remaining and getting some final facts. It’s this attention to detail that makes WPT broadcasts what they are.

    Mike,

This is Dominic your personal wardrobe consultant! You never looked so good! I really enjoyed all 3 parts of the video especially part two!

You forgot to say when they call Lombardo’s in Dallas, they need to ask for me “Dominic Ricciardi”, or they can call me direct on my cell at 214-869-3222. They can come to Dallas, or I’ll fly to were ever they may be. I will make them (Men or Women) the best dressed in any room they walk into.

Mike thanks for all you have done. Your a good man, a true gentlemen and you have a heart of gold. Let’s not forget the charity work you have done. You gave even a half million dollars in just one day. You truly deserve all the success you have achieved and being in the Hall of Fame shows that. You are truly the ambassador of poker.

I wish you and Vince Van Patten all the success in your 9th season and many more to come! You both are the WPT! The very best to you and your lovely wife and you beautiful little girl.

    Love you, your friend Dominic
